How to Care for Your Products
Ensure your printed shirts and hoodies are cared for correctly with our guides on washing and handling. We'll walk you through this in-depth process step-by-step and tell you the do's and don'ts when it comes to caring for your products.
Washing the Garments
- Try not to overload the washing machine. Aim to keep the wash load between 10-15 items depending on the weight and thickness of the fabrics.
- Turn the garment inside out. Before washing always remember to turn the garment inside out to protect the printed design from abrasion caused by other fabrics and the machine's drum wall.
- Go easy on the detergent. A little detergent goes a long way, try not to use too much in each wash load. It is also recommended to use a liquid detergent instead of a powder one. The granules in the powder detergents can add to the rubbing and straining of the garment fibres.
- Avoid fabric softener. In a lot of cases this can cause the print to peel and flake. We always recommend to avoid using fabric softener when washing our products.
- Wash at 30ºC. Lower temperatures mean longer lasting prints - its as simple as that!
- Use a wash cycle of 600rpm. Printed garments in general tend to be sensitive to high wash rpm's, so it's always best to keep to a low to medium wash cycle and avoid going over 800rpm. In addition, wash times of around 30 minutes or less are recommended.
- Avoid multiple washes in a row. Once the garment has been washed, allow it to dry fully before washing it again.
- Avoid over-stretching the garment. This is especially important when the garment is wet as the fibres are more likely to stretch and cause the print to peel.
Drying the Garments
- Always hang dry. Avoid using a tumble drier at all costs. We recommend air drying the garments to prevent fading and peeling of the prints.
- Dry inside out. Keep the garments inside out when drying them to protect the print whilst the fabric is wet. This also protects the print from direct sunlight which can cause fading.
- Don't iron on the print. If you choose to iron the garment, ensure you iron inside out and do not iron directly on the print.
